A New Way to Move Around — Making Travel in Beppu a Little Easier
Recently, a new initiative related to tourism in Beppu was announced:
the service area of “Yukemuri Rideshare” will be expanded to include Yufu City for a limited time.

This service allows registered local drivers to transport guests using their private vehicles,
and can be easily arranged through a ride-hailing app.
Since its launch in 2025, it has already been used by many visitors.
The expansion is scheduled during peak travel periods such as the Obon holidays and the New Year season,
and is expected to make travel between Beppu and Yufu—two of the region’s most popular destinations—much smoother.
Reducing the “Uncertainty of Getting Around”
In recent years, Beppu has experienced a shortage of taxi drivers,
and depending on the time of day, it is not uncommon to face situations where
it is difficult to secure transportation, even when needed.
At our ryokan, we often assist guests with arranging taxis.
However, there have been increasing instances—especially in the early morning or evening—
where vehicles are not immediately available, resulting in delays or adjustments to travel plans.
From our perspective as a place of accommodation,
this “barrier to mobility” has become one of the key challenges that directly affects the overall travel experience.
We believe that initiatives like this rideshare service will help ease these concerns,
gradually reducing the uncertainty of “not knowing if transportation will be available”
and allowing guests to plan their stay with greater peace of mind.

it is also embracing new approaches like this.
